Introduced in 1987, Italy’s dot IT country-specific top-level domain is quite popular both within the country and in the English-speaking world. Because .IT domains are not registered directly by IT-NIC, the Registry organization that handles this top-level domain name extension, such a domain can be ordered through a 3rd-party domain provider, such as ours. Because there are existing 2nd-level Domains that include names of different territories and localities in Italy reserved for local 3rd-level registrations, new names that include geographical regions of any sort are not allowed on any level to avoid any future confusion.
