SSH Telnet
Find out more about the Telnet protocol and its use.
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange data between a website hosting server and a client. Because the information exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of managing a web hosting account. The commands that can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, for example, the options are limited since you'll not have root access to the hosting server, so you could just create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so forth. They're all actions that are carried out in the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the ability to install server-side software or to restart the hosting server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are a variety of applications for other OSs, which you can employ to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Web Hosting
If the
web hosting package that you’ve chosen during the signup procedure features SSH access as standard, you'll be able to activate this feature with simply a click in your Hepsia CP. If you have chosen a different package, the SSH access function can be added through the Upgrades menu and it shall become available immediately. The information you need to connect will be conveniently listed in the SSH section of the CP - the hostname, the username and the port number. You can also set what password to use from the same spot and you will be able to change it at any time. All of the commands which are permitted are listed inside the Help articles which we have prepared for you, along with examples of the syntax which you must use. An additional advantage of allowing SSH access to your account is that you'll be able to upload files using an SFTP connection.

You shall be able to connect to your
semi-dedicated server account through SSH regardless of which package you pick when you sign up. With some packages, the function is offered as standard, while with others, it could be included as an optional upgrade for as long as you need it. You shall discover the required login information inside the Hepsia Control Panel, included with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You will be able to select the password which you'll use and if you'd like, you could change it all the time with a couple of mouse clicks for even higher security. You'll be able to see all the commands you can use beforehand, because we've listed them together with examples of how they are used so as to accomplish a certain task. The moment SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is allowed, you shall be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
All our
VPS server offers provide SSH access as standard, so you shall not have to add any upgrades or activate anything - the instant the server is set up and you receive its login details, you'll be able to connect via its primary IP address and the login credentials that you have picked through the signup process. As the VPS accounts include full root-level access, there are no restrictions regarding the commands that you may run. Your server shall be isolated from the others on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage just about everything through a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. That way, you are able to work with your files, databases and any apps you install in a fast and risk-free way.
