FTP Accounts
Discover more about FTP accounts and about FTP in general - exactly what they are and when you will be needing them.
FTP, which denotes File Transfer Protocol, is the most famous method of uploading website content to a hosting account. Using an FTP app that’s installed on your desktop or laptop computer, you can set up a connection to your website hosting server and copy all the web files that you want with a couple of clicks of the mouse. This is done via an easy-to-navigate interface and it is as simple as dragging ‘n’ dropping the files in question. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is the fact that you can set up different FTP accounts, each one with a different level of access to your online storage space, so if you must grant someone access, for instance – a web designer, they will be able to connect only to a particular folder and won’t be able to see the rest of your web content or any other info, including private details. Three things are compulsory in order to be able to make an FTP connection – a hostname, which is normally an IP address or a domain, a user name and a password.

FTP Accounts in Web Hosting
Any of the
web hosting plans that we are offering will allow you to create unlimited FTP accounts, so you will be able to administer the content of your Internet sites separately or to provide other persons with access to any site in your hosting account. In case you’ve got a web design app pre-installed on your home computer, you will be able to run numerous Internet sites all at once and to keep them up to date with ease. In case you provide the login details to some other person to carry out a given task, you will be able to change the password for that FTP account or to delete it entirely with just a few mouse clicks and avoid any possibility of unauthorized access to your website content in the future. For your convenience, all FTP accounts that you set up will be listed in alphabetical order in the respective section of your Hepsia Control Panel.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your websites in a
semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to set up a different FTP account for each of them, as we have not set a restriction on this functionality with any of our plans. You can do this through the FTP section of our easy-to-navigate Hepsia Control Panel where you can also see the full list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, along with the folder that each one can connect to. If needed, you’ll be able to modify the password for a particular FTP account or to edit its access path with several clicks. You can also remove an account without any effort if you don’t require it any longer – for instance, if you’ve hired a developer who’s finished with the site and you don’t want them to connect to your files any longer. For convenience’s sake, we’ve shot different how-to video clips, that will help you administer your FTP accounts without efforts if you’ve never used a web hosting service before.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers
None of the
VPS servers offered by us includes a limitation on the number of FTP accounts that you can have at any given time, so you can create an FTP account for any Internet site hosted on your Virtual Private Server, irrespective of whether it’s under a domain or subdomain. Besides, it does not matter which Control Panel you will pick when you subscribe – Hepsia, cPanel or DirectAdmin, since an FTP server will be set up on the virtual machine during the installation of any of them. In case you want several individuals to set up an FTP connection to one and the same folder with their own set of sign-in details, for example, it’ll take a couple of clicks of the mouse to create a different FTP account for each of them. Deleting an active account or modifying the folder that it can access is just as easy and you will not have any complication, even if you do not have prior experience in such matters.
